This is probably one of the most frequently asked questions on Facebook (apart from, who's cat is this, I've found a credit card, what was that loud bang down the road....)
Q - 'what does this button by my seatbelt do'
combined with
Q - 'why does the alarm keep going off in my camper van'
Well, they're linked.
If you have a small square button at the bottom of the pillar where your drivers side seatbelt is, then pressing this turns off your alarm's interior motion sensors.
The idea is that if you leave children, passengers, dogs, cats or whatever in your car while you go and pay for fuel etc, then you can safely lock the car without the alarm going off the moment someone moves inside it.
It also works nicely on camper vans where you want to lock yourself in a night and then sleep without the alarm going off.
So, the process is this.
- Open the driver's door
- Get out
- Press the button once
- Shut the door
- Lock your car / van with the remote as usual
Hey presto, your car is alarmed but won't make a sound if movement is detected inside.
This needs to be done every time you want this function because it resets every time you unlock the door.
There's lots of nonsense online about clicking the remote twice to deactivate the interior sensors, this is untrue and doesn't work.
Press the button and you're done.
