Error: workshop! Only leave vehicle in Position P - DSG VW Audi Skoda & Seat problems
So, Golf MK7, Skoda Octavia 5E. Seat Leon etc with DSG gearboxes.
You take the key out of the ignition and the dashboard starts yelling at you with this message:
'
Error: workshop! Only leave vehicle in Position P'
This seems to getting very very common on MQB models built from 2013 onwards and the 'Neutral Position Sensor' on the gear shift mechanism is the most common fault.
Basically, all Auto / DSG models have a system where you shouldn't be able to take the keys out of the ignition unless the car's left in Park.
The sensor that detects if you've left it in P fails and it doesn't know, so it starts warning you on the dashboard.
In these 2013 - 2020 (roughly) there are two kits available to fix this problem, we stock them both and have sold lots with all positive feedback.
You need to look at your car's shift mechanism to determine which one you need, luckily our friend
Aaron Whiffin has made a really useful Youtube video on this subject available here
We have the white kit here
and
the black kit here
