Data stickers help page

To help identify the correct parts for your car, we will sometimes ask for some information from the vehicle data sticker.

There are two copies of the sticker supplied with each car. One is
stuck on the inside cover of the service book (the one you get stamped
when the vehicle is serviced). The second one is located somewhere in
the luggage boot at the back of the car, either underneath the carpet or
stuck to the rear panel. It may take a bit of finding, but it's
normally there somewhere.

This sticker contains virtually all the technical data about your
car, including engine type, gearbox type, factory fitted options, brake
specification and lots more. The following image is from a 2005 model
year Audi A6, but the layout of these stickers is common to VW, Audi,
SEAT and Skoda cars and vans.

1 - The top line is the full chassis number of the car
(the last digits have been hidden to protect the ID of this particular
model)

2 - This is the model code, this depicts what type of car it is, and is very usefull when trying to identify the correct part.

3 - This is a description of the car, in this case an Audi A6 3.2 v6 4 door Quattro with a 188kw engine

4 - This line is the engine and transmission code, in this case a BKH engine and HCC HLK transmission.

5 - This is the exterior paint code, followed by the interior trim code.

The rows of three digit codes at the bottom of the sticker are
the VAG option codes or 'PR' codes as they are known, these define
whether the car left the factory with certain options, such as leather
interior, Sat Nav, Towbar, ESP etc. These codes are sometimes vital to
get the correct parts for your car.
